Double the pleasure.......

Double Border Scarf (pg 104)
Yarn: Rowan's Kidsilk Haze
Colorway: Candy Girl
Needle Size: 6
Blocked size: 19x57
Here she is, the second of my Double Border Scarves. After having done a previous one, this one seemed to move right along. It took a little over a week to do, most of the progress came on the weekends. I finished this one up Saturday afternoon and she went immediately to blocking. As usual, I failed to capture the true color of this yarn....it's fuchsia, quite lovely. I only had two skeins of the Kidsilk so I went down a size in the needle and had enough to do 19 repeats of the pattern instead of the 20 called for. It's about 10 inches shorter than my first version (see here to compare) but I think it's still a nice size scarf. It goes into the Christmas cache for now, I think the recipent will be thrill when she gets it.

Another Double Border Scarf

Apparently....well.....I'm addicted to this scarf.....can't get enough of it. I had bought 2 skeins of Rowan - Kidsilk haze for a scarf...any scarf, just to do another one from this book. But no, what do I do...I co another Double Border....it's like I can't help myself. The yarn is such a beautiful color, more of a fuscia than I can get my camera to show you.

I'm about half way through and should just-about-have-enough to do 19 repeats (instead of 20) but I've also downsized the needle to a size 6 to help make the scarf long enough. I don't want to chance getting on the 20th repeat and to about row 18 then run out of yarn....[just my luck]...so I'll stop with the 19th repeat. This one is likely to go into the 'Christmas stash' too...we'll see.

Double Border Scarf FO

We've returned from vacation and as promised here's the FO of the of the Double Border Scarf.

Double Bordered Scarf (pg. 104)
Yarn: Misti Alpaca
Color: Pink
Needle: size 7
Finished size blocked: 19” (point to point) by 67”

I had to get a little help (thanks Jennifer) to get this started because I had not knitted a pattern like this before. The pattern itself is actually pretty easy in regards to the stitches, however it does require a good bit of concentration to keep up with where you are at and what you should be doing at the time. I do love the results and think I would do this pattern again at some point. I'm doing another scarf at the moment, but it's not from this book. However, I do have several other patterns in the book earmarked for future projects. DBS goes in the stash for Christmas presents. I think the intended recipient will be thrilled.

Double Border Scarf

I've been working hard on the Double Border Scarf on pg 104. I'm on the last rows of the last repeat so I'm very close to the end.

I wanted to share this cloud of pink alpaca fluff with you but you'll have to wait for the blocked picture because I'm getting ready to leave on vacation. Finished details when I return!

Double Border Scarf

I had to go do some mindless knitting of socks to clear my head after the Alpine Lace. Now I'm back, and after a few swatchs with a couple of different yarns, I've finally got a good start on the Double Border Scarf on pg. 104. I came back to the Misti Alpaca in a pale pink.

After a little clarification from Jennifer on how to read the pattern it's actually a pretty easy knit. I always start out on an even row, the middle section is always the same series of stitches and the last section is always an odd row. You just need to keep up with where you are at.This is a complete set of 3 repeats of the 20 row pattern....only 17 more to go.

Confused - And a Question

First off, I've finished the Alpine Lace and it's currently blocking......I hope you have a picture for you to see in the next day or so.
Ok, so here's where I'm confused and I have a question........I've started on my next project...The Double Border Scarf on page 104. I get that you are not working the same row on each side of the scarf as you knit it....but what I don't get is this for example......as I'm working, say row 1 of the twenty row repeat....first border side I'm actually purling (row 2 on Chart B) for the first 25 stitches.....next 8 stitches I'm purling (row 2 Chart A)...ok....with me so far......now for the next 25 stitches, I'm doing row 1 of chart B.....here's the confused part.....am I purling row 1 (because I AM on the WS) and do I go left to right on the chart or right to left?
Has anyone done this scarf yet or can anyone help me read the instructions.....I've even tried looking at the photographes in the book and I can't tell really if when I'm looking directly at the scarf is the right side (first 25 stitches) knitted and the left side (last 25 stitches ) purled..............I'm SOOOOOO CONNNFFUUUSSSSEEEDDDD!!!
