I decided to start with the large rectangle on page 54. The body is a very easy knit, which could get boring, but so far it's a good commuter project and I love the feel of the Handmaiden Sea Silk.
The colorway called to me because it resembles my Lucy.

I really want to make that shawl, but I think it will be my 2nd project from the book. I'm thinking about doing it in Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift for a more substantial warmth.
Is your cat a Maine Coon? Absolutely gorgeous!
My book just arrived yesterday, but I had to pass it along to my mom to wrap up for me for Christmas. It won't be too much longer before I can cast on.
Thanks, Jenny! Yes, she's a 3 year old Coon...and a luxury fiber connoisseur.
Did you run into any problems with the border? I just started mine and wonder if the first 6-7 stitches on the wrong side should be purl rows instead of knit. I have a garter stitch looking zigzag lattice thing that is happening and would rather have it resemble the zigzag pattern in the main body of the shawl (and the photo!). :-/
Maria (love your version of the shawl!)
