Keeping track of yarn subs

I am interested in keeping track of things by nature, which works well in my knitting world. So, I was thinking that if you were interested, I could keep track of any yarn subs that we use in our own VLT projects. You can just post the information (which pattern and which yarn) as a comment on my blog or on this blog and I will start the list. With the owners' help, I can keep the running tally as a file linked in our sidebar.

Happy knittting.

I am knitting the curved shawl in Zephyr - it is almost the same red as the one in the book.

I just started the curved shawl in Merino Oro - again, a rich red similar to the one in the book.

Though I have not started any of these particular projects, I have matched up a few yarns in my stash with projects in this book, and have used the book as an excuse to purchase a few new goodies. I will be using some natural brown looking 55/45 yak & silk laceweight from Skaska Designs for the Alpine Scarf. Kaalund's Classic Two merino in Bushfire will be Miss Lambert's Shetland pattern for the shawl on pg 50. I have some bamboo laceweight from PureKnits that will probably be the Hareball fichu, but I don't know yet if I will use my purple or green color. I have some cashemere laceweight from Colourmart that is destined to be the Three Cornered Shawl in clover pattern, and some of their turquoise silk will be the Myrtle Leaf Shawl with Willow border. I highly recommend ColourMart as a highly affordable, top quality alternative to other cashmeres and silks out there! 10 years from now, I will have made several VLT projets from their yarns LOL. Jojoland's laceweight yarn Harmony is not listed in the book with their other yarns as substitutes, but it would make a great substtitute for any number 1 yarn. I have several colors that I want to use for VLT projects as well, just not sure which ones yet. All these ideas, all this yarn, now to make time to knit!!

Thanks lots for the spread sheet - I haven't got the book yet, so it's given me a guide so I can start my yarn window-shopping :)
