Stumped By Victorian Ruby

I know this pattern has been completed and I don't remember any comment on mistakes in the pattern except the one on the errata sheet by Knitter's. I can't get past row 28. I've checked and rechecked my stitches, walked away from the pattern and rechecked again. I have 51 sts at the end of row 28. I end up 1 st short on row 29. I count 9 decreases on row 29 and 9 increases on row 29 so how can the pattern increase by one stitch to 52 stitches?

I am so frustrated. Any help so appreciated.

Jan

Hi, I just finished my Ruby yesterday. The mistake in row 29 ist that the second stich from the left side (at the end of the row) has to be a knit stich and no 2 stiches knit together, that´s the secret ;-)
You can have a look of mine at www.myblog.de/himawari

Hugs Claudia.

A great big hug back to you Claudia for helping me. I am a so non creative knitter and need to knit exactly what is shown in front of me. I shouldn't be knitting lace, but I love it and it looks not too difficult and there is a probability of help with patterns, I want to give it a try. I don't understand what I am to do about the red symbol instructions later on. I understand to not knit the red symbol row on the first row 45 but don't know where to place the red symbols given for that first row 45 as in the symbol explanations. i'm now going to check your blog.

Many thanks again!

Jan

Hi Jan, you have to knit the rows 17 to 46 twice for the border, the first time you knit them, you don´t knit the red symbols but instead just knit stiches and when you come to that row the second time, you knit these red stiches like they are explained for the black ones.

Go on, you´ll get it!
Claudia.

Many thanks again! I was over thinking the directions.

We are also blog illiterate and could not get to your blog. Do I need to write that we are "about as old as dirt."

More hugs,

Jan

Jan,
to get to Claudia's blog you need to type/copy the URL into the space at the top of your browser (the thingy you use to get on the internet like Internet Explorer or Firefox) and hit enter.
Hope this helps :)
