Melon Stitch Shawl
Just finished the Melon Shawl. Blocking truly is a magical thing. I loved this shawl before I blocked it....now I adore it. I used Louet Kidlin Pixie (laceweight in color Grasshopper) which is a double strand yarn...one is kid mohair/nylon the other is linen. The double strand took a tiny bit of getting used to, but after that it went well. I used Inox size 7 needles and wished I had some Knitpicks sharpies to knit with. The Inox are sharp-ish but the cable kept kinking back up on me. I tried the heat treatment but it didn't last long. The Kidlin softened up considerably after washing in Eucalan and blocking.

Wow! Gorgeous!
That is so beautiful. I love the melon stitch shawl. I'm working my way up in difficulty toward it.
It's absolutely wonderful, congrats! I just love greens and this one is beautiful!
Very pretty!
So lovely, and the yarn sound really interesting. How soft is it?
Amazing and I love that color. As the kids today say, you got mad skills. I give you prop, my knitta'!
That's just gorgeous! I've just received my copy and will be knitting the Melon Shawl in either 100% or Handmaiden's Seasilk ... decisions, decisions!
How beautiful!! You should wear it with great pride!
Gorgeous work!
That is just beautiful! I love the green color.
It's beautiful!!!!!
Very pretty! The color looks like it would go really well with jeans, sort of dressy/casual!
That's beautiful. I wasn't too keen on this shawl in the book but yours looks fantastic. Think I'll add it to my to-do list.
Patricia - I hope my green melon shawl is half as divine as yours. Blocking must be the key; mine is nice, but not gorgeous yet! What's next?
Absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations!
I've never heard of that yarn; it sounds cool.
Jennifer asked how soft this yarn is. Pretty soft...not like Kidsilk but the linen is very fine so the slight crispness of that isn't much of a factor. But, like all linen..it softens up even more after washing and blocking. The finished shawl is a cloud. This yarn comes in some gorgeous colors. I'd knit with it again for sure.
This is so beautiful. I think the color is perfect for the melon stitch.
I've never tried lace knitting yet. Sort of new to knitting. But. Looking for excuses to get this book, and your shawl is a good one! It is BEEEEEuteefull!!!!! Nice job photographing, too. Really gorgeous. Thanks for posting. The yarn you used and described sounds very tempting.
Gorgeous! Beautiful knitting!
Better than the one in the book!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!
